THOMAS YAKSIC
Executive Director
Born in Santiago, Chile, Thomas Yaksic Beckdorf is a lawyer with studies in lyrical singing and piano who has focused his professional career on the programming and production of opera, concerts, and piano recitals. He currently acts as Consultant and Latin American Representative for Theatre Projects Consultants.
He served as Artistic Administrator and Casting Director for the concert and opera seasons at Theatro Municipal de São Paulo (Brazil), where he also created long term development strategies with a special focus on the creation of new audiences. He previously held the Artistic Administrator position at Teatro Municipal de Santiago (Chile), where he additionally acted as General Producer for the piano season, spearheading its renewal with an emphasis on repertoire, and developed classical music educational programs.
He has acted as independent consultant to cultural institutions, and served as jury member in several international music competitions in Europe and Asia (piano, orchestral conducting, and lyrical singing). In 2015 he was invited to China to lecture on creativity and programming identity in theaters and cultural centers. He regularly writes on the artistic and operational sustainability of cultural institutions. In 2014 he was awarded the Young Leaders Prize by Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez and “El Mercurio” newspaper. He is part of the administrative board of Camerata Bariloche since 2018.
